ANII – Plot
The National Agency for Research and Innovation (ANII) is a governmental entity that promotes research and the application of new knowledge to the productive and social reality of Uruguay.
ANII makes funds available to the public for research projects, national and international postgraduate scholarships, and incentive programs for innovative culture and entrepreneurship, both in the public and private sectors.
ANII analyzed the National System of Researchers, an economic incentive program for national researchers categorized on the basis of a strict evaluation system.
He also created Trama, a digital platform that promotes interaction between entrepreneurs, researchers, investors and talents in order to share their projects and experiences.
The challenge
ANII asked BigCheese to redesign and improve the Trama portal, the virtual platform where entrepreneurs, researchers, and investors meet to share experiences and projects. As part of the results, a dynamic and agile development process with continuous and fast deliveries was expected in order to facilitate the maintenance of the solution.

Through the use of DevOps it was possible to reduce the development and release time of new improvements. Improvements were made in the development cycle and quality of deliverables, since observations and incidents in construction, deployment and testing were detected twice as fast as with the previous process.

Through automation, the time spent on uploading code to repositories and deployment tasks that were previously manual was reduced by 60%.

New enhancements were developed, such as the “Enterprise” component that allows entrepreneurs and companies to become part of Trama and share their experiences with the community. The site’s landing page was completely redesigned, more dynamic and modern. Even having two landing pages, one for new users and one for registered users which loads content dynamically, based on the interests and tastes of the logged in user.
