My incredible journey at AWS re:Invent 2023: A Transformative Experience
I’m Violeta Bances Santamaría, Cloud Developer at BigCheese, and I recently had the opportunity to attend AWS re:Invent 2023 thanks to the AWS All Builders Welcome Grant program. I want to share with you my incredible experience in this event that marks the forefront in the world of technology and the cloud.
How it all started thanks to the All Builders Welcome Grant program.
To begin with, the application process for AWS re:Invent was exciting. The All Builders Welcome Grant program seeks to support professionals who promote access to the cloud for all, regardless of background, gender, or beliefs. Highlighting certifications, having up to five years of experience, and being part of the AWS community were essential aspects for the selection.
Benefits of the All Builders Welcome Grant program
Once selected, the doors opened to a world of opportunities. The program covered all expenses related to the event, from lodging to full access to AWS re:Invent. In addition, the opportunity to network with industry leaders, share ideas with other program members and immerse myself in a learning environment was invaluable.
Highlights from AWS re:Invent 2023
The week at AWS re:Invent was a roller coaster of emotions and learning. From keynote addresses to specialized sessions, every moment was an opportunity to absorb new information and keep abreast of the latest innovations in the cloud.
Artificial intelligence was one of the main topics. Tools such as Amazon Q, an AI-powered generative assistant, were introduced, and enhancements to the range of instances such as R8g and EC2 U7i were highlighted, showing AWS’s ongoing commitment to technology evolution.
Updates to Lambda to handle high-volume requests, as well as advances in machine learning, were also highlights. In addition, new features in CloudWatch and AWS Control Tower promise to make cloud operations even easier.
A transforming experience
The event was not just about technology; it was about human connection, inspiration and motivation. Hearing stories from companies like Disney and JP Morgan Chase about how they have transformed their development experiences with AWS tools was inspiring.
A worthwhile trip
In summary, AWS re:Invent 2023 has been an enriching experience. From the knowledge gained to the relationships established, this trip has rekindled my passion for technology and strengthened my sense of belonging in this wonderful community of cloud technologies.
